About Island Park Idaho - Near West Yellowstone

Island Park is home to the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River, a world famous trout fishery. People, from as far away as Japan, journey here to test their fly fishing skills. There are also several streams, reservoirs, and lakes that provide quality fishing.

The City of Island Park has "The longest main street in America" which is over 30 miles in length. When you enter the city, you may still have 15 or 20 miles to reach your destination, and still be in the city limits.

Island Park is centrally located to many nearby attractions. These include Yellowstone National Park, Jackson, Wyoming, Big Sky, Montana, Ennis, Montana, Big Sky Ski Resort, and Grand Targhee Ski Resort.

There are many outdoor activities to enjoy in Island Park. In the summer you can go fishing, hiking, biking, riding ATV’s, boating, river rafting and more. In the winter, there is snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and ice fishing.

Viewing and photographing Island Park’s wildlife is quite popular. Many people enjoy seeing the abundant wildlife in their natural environment.

Island Park is surrounded by the Targhee National Forest. It is located in the northern half of Fremont County, Idaho. It is about 95 miles from Jackson, Wyoming, about 80 miles from Big Sky, Montana, and only a half-hour drive from Yellowstone National Park’s west entrance.
